Frigid Archer challenges Air Commandos on Eglin Range

Airmen of the 1st Special Operations Wing and other Hurlburt Field units operated Jan. 6-13 from austere conditions here.

The combat deployment and employment exercise -- called Frigid Archer -- challenged Air Commandos to work from a bare-base set up, reinforcing the command's ability to operate "anytime, anyplace."

They performed operational and support requirements, which included flying, maintenance, base security, meal preparation, communications, chemical warfare response and self-aid and buddy care.

Units exercise Airmen’s ability to function in an operational environment as part of Air Force Special Operations Command's priority to "provide combat-ready forces."
