"Gunny" Ermey toured the USAF Special Operations School during his recent visit here for an upcoming episode of the show focusing on Air Force Special Operations Command. During his visit he sat in on a Middle Eastern Orientation class, watched a demonstration on vehicle search techniques, received a breifing on weapons used by terrorists around the world and fired an Israeli Galil and a Styer-aug. "Gunny" Ermey, a retired Marine, is well known both for hosting the show and for his role as a tough-as-nails drill instructor in the film "Full Metal Jacket."

Matt Caruso, AFSOC command chief and other AFSOC leaders met with local civic leaders Nov. 17 at AFSOC Headquarters. Master Sgt. Thomas Case, Tactical Air Control Party Airman, 18th Air Support Operations Group, received his second Silver Star medal, Nov. 13 at Pope Army Airfield, N.C. Case is the third Airman and first TACP since 9/11 to have two Silver Stars, making him one of the most highly-decorated U.S. service members.
