Course Information

Target Audience: The Air Commando Leadership Development Course (ACLDC) is a leadership development course designed to advance nominated Air Commando Officers, Enlisted and Civilians into tomorrow's Special Operations Forces’ (SOF) leaders. The target student audience is AFSOC Captains with 8 to 12 years of active duty experience, AFSOC MSgts with Senior Rater Endorsement, and AFSOC GS Civilians (GS-12/13) who have shown the capability and potential to lead and cultivate future AFSOC and SOCOM forces. This is a “by nomination only” course and attendees are nominated by their chain of command and approved at the 0-6 senior rater level.

Course Description: ACLDC is a 5-day educational and mentorship course that is comprised of four modular areas of instruction. The first module lays out the strategic vision and missions of AFSOC while emphasizing the role of today’s Airmen in leading current and future Special Operations Forces.  The second module explores the legal, administrative and financial responsibilities of SOF leaders within SOCOM organizations, providing students with a functional understanding of what resources are available at their disposal.  The third module is devoted to specialized topics that include the importance of Total Force Integration (TFI), the role of industry in furthering the AFSOC/SOCOM missions, an introduction to the strategic planning processes, commanders’ deployment tools and AFSOC career development topics.  The fourth module is a series of guided panel discussions (junior AFSOC Airmen, First Sergeants, Chiefs, Squadron Commanders and partnered-industry leaders).

Prerequisites/References:  AFSOC Wing, Group, and Headquarters senior leaders nominate students based upon the established quotas.  This is a by-nomination only course targeting assigned personnel that demonstrate SOF leadership potential.  Specifically, all students must be nominated by their chain of command IAW the tasking process and nominations submitted to the course director.  This course is unit funded.  After students have been nominated they will receive a training line number (TLN) and must obtain a USAFSOS Blackboard account.
