11th IS Airman receives Bronze Star for actions in Southwest Asia Published Aug. 25, 2006 By Dylan Laurie Contract writer HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- A Bronze Star was awarded to the 11th Intelligence Squadron acting director of operations during a ceremony at Air Force Special Operations Command Head-quarters Wednesday morning. Capt. Loree Filizer received the medal for her actions leading to an airstrike in June that killed a known enemy of the United States. "My job was to help facilitate getting intel and feedback from the task force," said Captain Filizer. According to the citation, Captain Filizer helped provide intelligence that led to the success of the operation. During this period, Captain Filizer's extraordinary ability to operate in uncertain, hostile and fluid combat environment contributed significantly to the terrorist's elimination. "It's a really great honor; I'm really proud of it," said Captain Filizer. "But, I sincerely believe that I'm being rewarded for the work that a lot of other people did for our organization," she said.
