10 Air Commandos win AFSOC outstanding Airman, civilian honors Published April 10, 2015 By AFSOC Public Affairs HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Air Force Special Operations Command recently announced the names of 10 Air Commandos selected as its 2014 Outstanding Airman and Civilians of the Year. These individuals will receive formal recognition during the AFSOC annual awards banquet scheduled here May 14. The winners are: Airman – Staff Sgt. Travis Jordan, 320th Special Tactics Squadron, Kadena Air Base, Japan Noncommissioned Officer – Tech. Sgt. William Phelps, 352nd Special Operations Maintenance Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, U.K. Senior NCO – Master Sgt. Daniel Wey, 352nd SOMXS First Sergeant – Master Sgt. Marvin Jimerson Jr., 27th SOMXS, Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. Company Grade Officer – Capt. Samantha Ekwall, 1st Special Operations Support Squadron, Hurlburt Field Enlisted Individual Reservist – Staff Sgt. Danielle Szymczyk, Headquarters AFSOC, Hurlburt Field Officer IR – Capt. Stefanie Purdie, Headquarters AFSOC, Hurlburt Field Category I civilian – Samuel Krahn, 27th Special Operations Maintenance Group, Cannon AFB Category II civilian – Daniel Wilcoxen, 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron, Hurlburt Field Category III civilian – Jorge Talamantes, 27th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron, Cannon AFB Jordan, Phelps and Wey will represent AFSOC at the Air Force’s 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year competition.
