As Emerald Warrior 2016 moves into its second full week of operations exercise planners are pleased with what has been accomplished to date.

“This year’s Emerald Warrior has been outstanding so far,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Michael Lee, Air Force Special Operations Warfare Center deputy commander and Emerald Warrior 2016 exercise director. “I think the most important part of the exercise are the relationships that are being formed between warriors that will be working together on the same complex problems downrange in the future.”

The second half of the exercise will continue to focus on the integration of Air Force Air Commandos with special operations and conventional assets from the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

The first five days of the air-centric exercise focused on Air Force Special Operations Command mission priorities, enabling training tasks such as precision strike, specialized air mobility, battlefield operations, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to be completed.

During the first half of the exercise military members logged an estimated 400 hours of flight time in special operations and conventional aircraft as well as an additional 90 hours of flight time on virtual training missions.
