Lt. Gen. Eric Fiel, Air Force Special Operations Command commander, sent out a general order on sexual assault prevention and response to AFSOC personnel June 25, 2013 in response to the sexual assault safety stand-down training day.

The general order states all military members assigned or attached to an AFSOC unit are prohibited from engaging in activities such as creating and tolerating an unprofessional and/or hostile work environment.

Personnel must report any potential incident of sexual assault, sexual harassment or incidents of inappropriate material in the work place which they witness, observe or assess to the first O-6 in their AFSOC chain of command.

"Failure to obey this general order constitutes a violation of Article 92, Uniform Code of Military Justice, and may result in commander disciplinary or administrative action," Fiel said. "These actions include but are not limited to: court-martial prosecution, nonjudicial punishment under Article 15 of the UCMJ, reprimand, admonishment, administrative demotion, security clearance revocation and involuntary separation with an adverse characterization of service."

This general order can help fight against sexual assault at home, and protect fellow wingmen.

"I believe this new general order is important to the fight against sexual assault in the Air Force," said Janet Morrison, Hurlburt Fields sexual assault response coordinator. "It shows the commitment from AFSOC's most senior leader to change our culture, our climate, and our commitment to each other to do the right thing."
