AC-119 Gunship Association donates lithographs to Teresa Village

Lt. Col. Donald Peck, 18th Flight Test Squadron commander, and Garrettson "Garry" Gourley, retired U.S. Air Force flight engineer, flank a lithograph donated to Teresa Village during a ceremony there on July 8. The original painting, by Darby Perrin, titled "Rolling In," depicts an AC-119G Shadow attacking a Viet Cong stronghold during the Viet Nam War. Gourley, a resident of Teresa Village, one of three Air Force Enlisted Village sites, was a member of the 17th Special Operations Squadron, which flew the AC-119G. The original painting, by Darby Perrin, titled "Guns Hot," depicts an AC-119K Stinger gunship as it wreaks havoc on the Ho Chi Minh Trail during the Viet Nam War. The painting highlights the fifth anniversary of the AC-119 Gunship Association. Sininger was a member of the 18th Special Operations Squadron, which flew the AC-119K. AC-119 Gunship Association donates lithographs to Teresa Village

Retired AC-119 gunship flight engineers Garrettson "Garry" Gourley (left) and Gus Sininger unveil a lithograph during a ceremony to dedicate two AC-119 gunship lithographs to Teresa Village on July 8. The original paintings, by Darby Perrin, were donated to the United States Air Force Museum by the AC-119 Gunship Association. The paintings feature the AC-119G Shadow and the AC-119K Stinger gunships as they flew their many, and often secret, missions in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia during the conflict in Southeast Asia. AC-119 gunships are credited with destroying countless numbers of trucks and supplies on the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos and are also credited with saving hundreds of lives in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia during their four years of operation. The 18th Flight Test Squadron here on Hurlburt has a direct lineage to the 71st, 17th and 18th SOSs, and Lt. Col. Donald Peck, commander, took a special interest in the gunship and its dedication.
