The Air Force Special Operations Command unit responsible for training aircrews in special operations airframes established a detachment at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M, May 10.

The 19th Special Operations Squadron, located here, established an operating location at the New Mexico base to help facilitate student training for the AC-130H gunship.

The unit will initially have eight student positions and four instructor positions. The detachment at Cannon will be subordinate to the Air Force Special Operations Training Center, which will stand up at Hurlburt Field later this year. Until the AFSOTC stand-up, the detachment is aligned under the 19th SOS.
