AFSOC Airman dies in Afghanistan

An Air Force Special Operations Command combat controller died March 22 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Tech. Sgt. William  Jefferson Jr., 34, of Norfolk, Va., died near Sperwan Ghar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, N.C.

The 21st STS will hold a memorial service honoring Sergeant Jefferson 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pope AFB.
