Holliday 353rd Special Operations Group 3/23/2007 - DAEGU AB, Korea -- -- In preparation for a 2008 Operational Readiness Inspection, more than 400 members of the 353rd Special Operations Group from Kadena Air Base, Japan, traveled to Korea for Blue Horizon Operational Readiness Exercise 2007. Blue Horizon afforded the members an opportunity to practice wartime skills necessary for their ability to survive and operate. "It's our first game of the season," Col. Raymond Chapman, commander, said. "We will continue to exercise and train and get even better. From this exercise we'll take our lessons learned and bring them back to home station and ensure that we apply them." The group deploys with all of its equipment and members needed to operate at any location. This year's evaluators for the wartime scenarios were members from the Wisconsin Air National Guard located at Volk Field, Wisconsin. The Guard members provided self aid and buddy care, sweep team and disaster preparedness training before and during the deployment. Wartime readiness skills during mortar attacks, chemical attacks and mass casualty scenarios, were all tested and evaluated.
