Hurlburt Field nominated for excellence Published Dec. 6, 2006 By AFSOC News Service HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Air Force announced Dec. 6 that Hurlburt Field has been named one of three finalists in the Commander-In-Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence. The other bases nominated are Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, and Columbus AFB, Miss. The bases were selected for "outstanding contributions, innovation and commitment to excellence of our Air Force people who operate and maintain our installations and support of the mission of the United States Air Force," according to the Air Force message. The award recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain U.S. military installations. According to the Defense Department's news release announcing last year's winners, excellent installations enable better mission performance and enhance the quality of life for military men and women and their families. This year's installation excellence selection board will visit the three installation finalists between Jan. 28 and Feb. 7, 2007, to determine the Air Force winner.
