Enlisted Airmen are now responsible for updating their own assignment preferences online through the virtual Military Personnel Flight.

The Air Force has recently automated the assignment preference functions currently being accomplished by the commander's support staff.

"I'm very excited about this, especially for deployed Airmen," said Senior Master Sgt. Edward Edge, 16th Mission Support Squadron MPF superintendent. "If an Airman is deployed and hot for orders, they can access the virtual MPF and change it online. They'll no longer need to rely on the commander's support staff or military personnel flight."

Airmen can update their preferences from home or work by accessing the vMPF directly at http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil. They will also be able to view the Enlisted Quarterly Assignment Listings.

Updates must be done when there is a change in status such as marriage, divorce or a permanent change of station.

Every Airman should make sure their assignment preferences are updated and reflect their current desires. Airmen will not be released from an assignment due to outdated preferences.

"It's part of a transition," said Sergeant Edge. "It's a good change for Airmen."
