Air Commandos from Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., celebrated 66 years of Air Force history Sept. 1 at the Air Force Ball held at the Clovis Civic Center in Clovis, N.M.

The ball is an annual celebration held in honor of the day the Air Force became a separate branch of service. It is an Air Force-wide event that allows for the remembrance of all the Air Force's trials and triumphs throughout the years.

This year's event included a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action tribute from the base honor guard, a traditional cake-cutting, and a video highlighting Cannon's history put together by the 27th Special Operations Wing Public Affairs Office.

U.S. Air Force Col. Tony Bauernfeind, 27 SOW commander, closed the ball with a speech stating his hopes for the future of Cannon.
