CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Maintainers are an essential component of mission capability within the 27th Special Operations Wing. Often working more than 12-hour shifts from the back shops to the flightline, these Air Commandos play a role that is much easier said than done: to keep 27th SOW aircraft mission-ready.
Collectively, the 1,400 highly-trained, thoroughly-organized, and well-equipped personnel in the 27th Special Operations Maintenance Group manage more than 90 facilities and an annual budget in excess of $30 million.
The gunships, tilt-rotor aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and non-standard aircraft of Cannon remain swift, powerful and lethal thanks to the dedication of the 27th SOMXG’s maintainers.
