Members of the 27th Special Operations Contracting Squadron and the 27th Special Operations Comptroller Squadron made their way to Melrose Air Force Range, June 8, for a three-day pre-deployment exercise.

Contracting specialists had the opportunity to manage contracts and contract personnel in a contingency environment, while comptrollers received beneficial financial training. The exercise was an opportunity to provide adequate training and preparation to take future missions down-range.

“We need interoperability when we go out into the field,” said Senior Master Sgt. Joshua Allen, 27th SOCPTS superintendent. “Unfortunately, there are many instances when we do not get to do that, so we try to take advantage of the assets made available at Cannon and Melrose. “

“Being able to step away from our squadrons and day-to-day missions is essential,” he continued. “Having the opportunity to actually replicate a deployment mission for our Air Commandos is incredibly important to build Airmen in a lethal and relevant force.”
