Two Special Tactics Airmen perish after freefall accident

Two Special Tactics Airmen have died from injuries sustained in an accident on the Eglin Air Force Base range during routine military freefall training, Aug. 3, 2015. Both Airmen were injured in the same accident.

Immediately following the accident on Aug. 3, both Airmen from the 24th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Fla., were rushed to local hospitals.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of these Special Tactics Airmen. The names of the deceased will not be released until 24 hours after notification of next of kin. We request you respect the privacy of the friends and families involved.

The cause of the incident is not known, and it is still under investigation.
