Scott D. Sather Memorial Unveiling
Col. Marc Stratton, Inter-American Air Forces Academy, commandant, speaks during a memorial unveiling ceremony, Jan. 20, 2012, Medina Annex, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The ceremony was held in honor of Staff Sgt. Scott D. Sather. Sather was the United States Air Force???s first combat casualty during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sather, a combat controller, was assigned to the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, NC. The memorial was created to honor Sather???s leadership and bravery.
