The last MC-130P Combat Shadow assigned to the 67th Special Operations Squadron departs RAF Mildenhall, England, Feb. 3, for the last time while assigned to the 352nd Special Operations Group. The MC-130P, tail number 66-0215, is the last of its kind to leave the European theater. The exercise was designed to allow the 352nd Special Operations Group to practice and evaluate their ability to efficiently forward deploy the 352nd SOG’s newest assets, the CV-22 Osprey and MC-130J Commando II. The MC-130J flies low-visibility, single or multi-ship low-level air refueling missions for helicopters and tilt-rotor aircraft as well as resupply and transport of military forces via airdrop or airland. A CV-22 Osprey from the 7th Special Operations Squadron hovers during an exercise at RAF Fairford, England, Dec. 10, 2013. The 352nd Special Operations Group conducted an exercise involving approximately 130 Airmen and six aircraft at RAF Fairford from Dec. 9-12. The CV-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft that combines the vertical takeoff, hover and vertical landing capabilities of a helicopter with the long range, fuel efficiency and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft.
