16 SOS conducts Spirit 03 memorial flight

A U.S. flag and display aboard an AC-130W Stinger II gunship assigned to the 16th Special Operations Squadron during a Spirit 03 memorial flight at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, Jan. 31, 2022. Spirit 03 was the last AC-130 gunship shot down in combat, lost during Operation Desert Storm. The 16 SOS honored the crew by performing live fire training at the Spirit live fire range at Melrose Air Force Range, conducted a memorial flyover at Cannon, and held a remembrance brief after the flights detailing the story of the aircrew and advancements made as a result of the loss of Spirit 03.
